How the GPS Replaced Human Intelligence

It was once vitally important that drivers knew their neighborhood landscapes and were comfortable on suburban roads and major highways. The human brain once had to rely on itself for a sense of direction, which required keen observation of a vicinity. However, the introduction of GPS systems transformed this exercise into one of the past. Humans now rely on automated mechanical voices to dictate directions, leading to the loss of directional autodidactic command. What if automated trading is a parallel to the GPS? After all, automatic execution couples with the decreased ability of mental math and the unfortunate cause of the flash crash. It is rare, if not extinct, that traders are able to calculate the mean reversion mentally. Technological advances, more often than not, lead to human brainlessness and dependency (ex- the calculator). Why does humanity place such faith in technology when it has proven to dwindle human thought?
